Adult Students

Congratulations on taking the first step in obtaining your high school diploma! As you know, having a high school diploma is a basic requirement for many higher paying jobs. Not only are you demonstrating a basic understanding of math and reading but it shows diligence and responsibility on your part since it requires effort and responsibility. We would like to provide you with informational support to help you in this process!

What do I do first?

Step 1:
If you have recently been in school, gather your transcripts from your last school of attendance. If it has been a while since you were enrolled anywhere this step is not necessary.

Step 2:
Contact your local Adult Schools and/ or Community Colleges. Many adult schools have High School Diploma Track programs. The schedule of classes can vary so that working adults can complete the required classes. Community colleges sometimes have partnerships with the adults schools to provide High School Diplomas and/or CAHSEE Preparation. See "Links" page for more information.

Step 3:
Pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE), a new law recently passed that requires High School graduates to pass the CAHSEE. This exam tests competency in math and language arts. There are many resources to help you pass this test. See the "Links" page for more information.
